Fierce Shoe Friday

Painting Pastels...

Today's Fierce Shoe Friday is the Firenze Wedge Sneaker by Jeffrey Campbell. We all can't afford a pair of the coveted Isabel Marant sneakers, so these candy coloured pair of bad boys will have to do. I absolutely love the pastel tie dye material. Yummy!

Happy Friday!

Happy Hair!

Experimenting...

My hair has gone through some amount of trials and tribulations. I am a brunette naturally.
My first real hair experimentation was when I bought one of these DIY highlight your own hair packs, it came with a brush in and I ended up with the most grotesque patchy highlights. Really scary. Myself and a friend immediately dyed my hair a plum red ( it was the only colour she had hanging around the house...anything would do) thinking this would solve the problem. Boy did it not. My third year in school resulted in my hair being tied up in a top knot because it was just far too awful to have down!(and by the way top knots were not really fashionable then...ugh!)

My bf's father and sister are both hairdressers. Cue mad colour experimentation. I modelled for them in these hair shows where un-symmetrical cuts, blue hair and up-do's that are five feet tall are the norm! I think between these shows my hair has been dyed orange, purple, red and bleached to name a few. So it's safe to say I have not seen my natural hair colour for a while. Hairdressers rarely get the opportunity to be as creative as they would like with their clients, the regular highlights, graduated bob and platinum blonde look are actually boring for them. So for a few years the family in-laws have run riot over my precious locks.

I finally regained control in the last year (I must sound so selfish seen as I get my hair done for nothing....woops) and asked for just a 'boring' all over brown. It was achieved through gritted teeth! I joke I joke....through love! And just recently the bf's sister (she colours, the dad cuts my locks) has began to create an ombré look on my hair which I'm obsessed with. Apparently, the actual term is marbelling, a technique that most trained hairdressers should know. It's probably my most favourite look to date. And I know I am late jumping on the bandwagon of the whole dip dye hair colour, but going a dark blonde on the tips of my hair is a big deal for me!

I was recently gifted with the Nioxin hair system kit that is supposed to improve thinning hair. It's a three part programme and I am keen to try anything to get a bit of regrowth on my not so pretty areas! Review up soon...

With extra time devoted to conditioning, lots of Moroccan oil and avoiding using heat tools daily, below is a pic of how my hair is fairing at present. I haven't gone over the top with the blonde....yet! It's a working progress! Have you had any hair disasters? When have you been most happiest with you hair?

Fierce Shoe Friday

Red and Lucite...

Today's Fierce Shoe Friday is the Soiree Platform in the red suede colour-way by Jeffrey Campbell. An absolutely fiery festive colour, pair these bad boys with skin tight leather pants and your ready to rock the town. I'm a sucker for lucite. And just recently invested in lucite make-up boxes from Muji which look totally chic. The fact that it's a chunky heel is even better for those nights where you have had one too many. Now pass me the Brut...

Glamming your Gadgets!

Tech Swag

I'm now the proud owner of an iPad. I have only had it a few days and already can't understand how I lived before without one! With literally a swipe and a touch, even the most minuscule problem is solved.

My issue now is finding a cover that is also practical but stylish. I simply can't have one of those boring black covers on it. However, it is a necessity that it is well protected. You see, I'm not quite lucky when it comes to technology. I go through a phone at least once a year (which is probably why I have yet to invest in an iPhone) and my current one only allows me to make phone calls only on loudspeaker for some reason, so the whole world can hear my life! And last year I had an unpleasant scenario where on my way home from college, I popped my laptop on the roof of the car as I was putting my bags in, forgot to take it down and drove a mile with it on the roof for it to then be thrown across the other side of the road. RIP aqua blue Sony vaio....

So I'm sure you will agree that getting a cover on this bad boy is a must. And this is what has inspired my new post- 'Glamming you Gadgets'. Never compromise, there are dozens of stylish covers and protectors for your gadgets. Have fun shopping!

Dining in Dublin...

Picaderos...

For myself and the bf's sixth year celebration together we decided to try out Picaderos in Maynooth, Co Kildare. So I know my post is titled Dining in Dublin, but Maynooth is only about a ten minute drive from the outskirts of Dublin and this Argentinian/Spanish restaurant is well worth the trip!

Picaderos was brilliant. We opted for the tapas menu (but there is also an a la carte and a specialised Mexican menu should you wish....note that restaurants with a dozen menus never tend to be great but don't be put of...), because we love trying everything as oppose to being stuck with the one meal. In fact that sums up most of my dining decisions, I often choose several starters so I can try everything. Some may call that sheer greediness.

We went for seven tapas choices, the typical Bravas, sardines (amazing...), mussels, olive tepenade with a bread selection, croquettes, breaded goats cheese and chicken skewers on bruschetta. I had a glass of proseco (a wee bit flat but that often happens with a bottle that may have been hanging by the bar) and the bf had a soft drink. The whole meal came to under fifty euro, which was very reasonable for a meal that was so filling, meant that we couldn't even try the dessert menu (I spied churros on the menu but my leather pants were fit to burst...).

The sardines, olive tapenade, croquettes and mussels are highly recommended. Tasty, fresh, and all complemented each other really well. The sardines actually reminded me of family holidays in Morocco where on the coastal roads you could stop of and buy the most delicious sardines that were only just caught and fried there and then! Nostalgic yumminess!

We are definitely returning back to try out the other tapas choices that we had to forgo on.  Have you tried out Picaderos ? What are your recommendations?
